Consider a sportsman running we could see he will be moving fast or slow with respect to time. If we want to express how fast the person is moving we could use the word accelerating for this as he is changing the velocity each and every time with respect to time. In general we can say Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity with respect to time. Acceleration Calculator calculates the acceleration of a moving object when change in velocity with respect to time are given.
Acceleration Formula:

Acceleration(a) = $\frac{v - u}{t}$

Where, a = Acceleration in m/s2

t = time in seconds

v = Final Velocity in m/s

u = Initial Velocity in m/s.

## How to Calculate Acceleration?

Step 1 :

Acceleration Formula:

Acceleration(a) = $\frac{v - u}{t}$

Time(t) = $\frac{v - u}{a}$

Final Velocity(v) = u + at

Initial Velocity(u) = v - at

Where, a = Acceleration

t = time

v = Final Velocity

u = Initial Velocity.

Step 2 :

State the equation you plan to use and plug in the values.

## Acceleration Problems

1. ### If a bus accelerates uniformly from 20.6 m/s to 58.2 m/s in 30.2 seconds. Calculate the acceleration of the bus?

Step 1 :

Given that:

Initial Velocity(u) = 20.6 m/s

Final Velocity(v) = 58.2 m/s

Time(t) = 30.2 sec

Acceleration of the bus = ?

Step 2 :

Substitue the given values in the formula:

Acceleration(a) = $\frac{v - u}{t}$

a = $\frac{(58.2 m/s) - (20.6 m/s)}{(30.2 sec)}$

a = $\frac{(37.6 m/s)}{(30.2 sec)}$

a = 1.24503311 m/s2

a = 1.245 m/s2

2. ### Determine the final velocity of the car, if it starts from rest and accelerates 4.3 m/s2 after 34.8 seconds?

Step 1 :

Given that:

Initial Velocity(u) = 0 m/s

Final Velocity(v) = ?

Time(t) = 34.8 sec

Acceleration of the car = 4.3 m/s2

Step 2 :

Final Velocity(v) = u + at

v = (0 m/s) + (4.3 m/s2)*(34.8 sec)

v = 149.64 m/s
