Coterminal Angle Calculator

If the sum of two angles is a multiple of 360 degrees, then we call them as coterminal angles. Generally these two angles will be starting and ending in the same place. please follow the figure given for a better understanding.
Here in this Coterminal Angle Calculator (coterminal calculator) , When we give an angle, we get all the possible positive and negative coterminal angles. Coterminal angles calculator calculates both positive and negative coterminal angles hence is both positive coterminal angle calculator as well as positive and negative coterminal angle calculator. It is common called coterminal angle finder.

Step by Step Calculation

Step 1 :

A positive coterminal angle for the given angle can be calculated by adding any one of the multiples of 360. Like 360,   720...so on.

Step 2 :

A negative coterminal angle for the given angle can be calculated by adding any one of the multiples of  -360. Like -360, -720....so on.

Example Problems

  1. What is the measures of smallest postive and negative angles that is coterminal with 220 degrees.

    Step 1 :

To get the smallest postive coterminal angle, we should add the given angle (220) to 360.

    220 + 360 = 580.

So 580 degrees is the smallest positive coterminal angle.

    Step 2 :

To get the smallest negative coterminal angle, we should add the given angle (220) to -360.

    220 + (-360) = -140.

So -140 degrees is the smallest negative coterminal angle.

    Answer  :

    580 and -140.

  2. Find out the measures of two possible postive and negative angles that is coterminal with 150 degrees.

    Step 1 :

To get the two postive coterminal angles, we should add the given angle (220) to 360 and 720.

    150 + 360 = 510.

    150 + 720 = 870.

So 510 and 870 degrees is the two possible positive coterminal angles.

    Step 2 :

To get the two negative coterminal angles, we should add the given angle (220) to -360 and -720.

    150 + (-360) = -210.

    150 + (-720) = -570.

So -210 and -570 degrees is the two possible negative coterminal angles.

    Answer  :

    510, 870 and -210, -570.
