Electric Field Calculator

The electric field of a electric charge is the space around the charge in which another charge experiences a force of repulsion or attraction. Electrc field calculator calculates either electrostatic force between the charges, charges or electric field if any two among the three are given.

Step by Step Calculation

Step 1 :

Electric Field Formulas:

E = $\frac{F}{q}$

F = q * E

q = $\frac{F}{E}$

Where,

F = Force

E = Electric Field

q = Charge

Step 2 :

Put the values in the formula and calculate it further.

Example Problems

1. Calculate the charge of electrons having electric field of 50 N/C and force of 40 N.

Step 1 :

Given:

E = 50 N/C

F = 40 N

Formula:

q = $\frac{F}{E}$

Step 2 :

Put the values in the formula and calculate it further.

E = $\frac{F}{q}$

q = $\frac{F}{E}$

= $\frac{40 N}{50 N/c}$

= 0.8 C

q = 0.8 C

2. The earth has a net charge that produces an electric field of 100 N/C at its surface in downward direction. Calculate the force produced by free electron near the earth's surface.

Step 1 :

Given:

E = 100 N/C

q = 1.6 * 10-19 C

Formula:

F = q * E

Step 2 :

Put the values in the formula and calculate it further.

E = $\frac{F}{q}$

F = q * E

= 100 * 1.6 * 10-19

= 160 * 10-19 N

F = 160 * 10-19 N
