Mod Calculator

The Mod (or Modulo) of a number by other number is the remainder of the first number divided by the second number. In simple words, a mod b = (remainder of a/b).

Mod Calculator (or Modulo Calculator) is an online tool to calculate the mod of one number by other number. For calculating a mod b, the calculator takes both the numbers a & b, and calculates a mod b.

(a mod b) is not same as (b mod a).

Mod of a number by itself is always zero. I.e. (a mod a) = 0.

Step by Step Calculation

Back to Top
Step 1 :

Here we divide the dividend with divisor.

i.e. = $\frac{dividend}{divisor}$.

Then we get quotient and reminder.

Step 2 :

For cross verification we use this method.

Dividend = quotient $\times$ divisor + remainder

Example Problems

Back to Top
  1. Divide the 3 digit number by a 2 digit number

    Example: $\frac{178}{10}$.

    Step 1 :

    $\frac{178}{10}$

    = 17.8

    Quotient = 17

    Remainder = 8

    Step 2 :

    Dividend = quotient $\times$ divisor + remainder

    178 = 17 $\times$ 10 + 8

    178 = 178

    Answer  :

    The answer is 8.

  2. Divide the 4 digit number by the 3 digit number.

    Example $\frac{3479}{100}$

    Step 1 :

    $\frac{3479}{100}$

    = 34.79

    Quotient = 34

    Remainder = 79

    Step 2 :

    Dividend = quotient $\times$ divisor + remainder

    3479 = 34 $\times$ 100 + 79

    3479 = 3479

    Answer  :

    The answer is 79.
