The line of best fit drawn on a scatter diagram gives a clearer idea of the correlation between two sets of data.

The line of best fit is drawn to show the trend of the plotted points. The line should have an equal number of points on each side. To draw a line of best fit, draw a line on the scatter diagram which shows the trend of the plotted points and has roughly an equal number of points on each side.

You can see a calculator with two different sets of data given below. On clicking "Calculate Line of Best Fit", a graph is plotted by marking those two sets of points. A line is drawn which gives you the line of best fit.

Steps for Line of Best Fit Calculator
