Fraction is the ratio of two integers having two parts of a fraction, which are, numerator & denominator. Multiplying Fractions means multiplying one fraction by another.

Lets us say first fraction is $\frac{u}{v}$ (u is the numerator and v is the denominator) and second one is $\frac{w}{x}$ (w is the numerator and x is the denominator), then the multiplication of these two fractions, $\frac{u}{v} \ast \frac{w}{x}$ (multiplication of the two fractions) is calculated as $\frac{(u \ast w)}{(v \ast x)}$.

Multiplying Fractions Calculator takes the values of the numerator and denominator of the two fractions and calculates the multiplication.

Multiplying both numerator and denominator by the same number does not change the value of the fraction.

Steps for Multiplying Fractions

Back to Top
Step 1 :

Multiply the top numbers (the numerators), and also multiply the bottom numbers(the denominators) of the two fractions.

Step 2 :

Simplify the fractions if needed.

  1. Multiply the fraction 3/7 and 8/5.

    Step 1 :

    Given: 3/7 and 8/5.

    multiply the numerator = 3 * 8 = 24.

    multiply the denominator = 7 * 5 = 35.

    Step 2 :

    Fraction = Numerator / Denominator.

    Fraction = 24/35.

    Answer  :

    24/35.

  2. Multiply the fraction 9/4 and 3/5.

    Step 1 :

    Given: 9/4 and 3/5.

    multiply the numerator = 9 * 3 = 27.

    multiply the denominator = 5 * 4 = 20.

    Step 2 :

    Fraction = Numerator / Denominator.

    Fraction = 27/20.

    Answer  :

    27/20
