Adding Negative Numbers Calculator
Top

Adding negative numbers is adding any two negative number. It depends on following logic:
  • (+ve integer) + (+ve integer) = +ve
  • (-ve integer) + (-ve integer) = -ve
  • (-ve integer) + (+ve integer) = Either +ve or -ve (depends on larger number)
Here is a online tool that calculates any two integers using the above logic. You just have to enter the given integers with their appropriate signs in block provided and get its addition done instantly. Try our Adding Negative Numbers Calculator and get your problems solved instantly.

Steps for Adding Negative Numbers

Step 1 :

Read the problem and note down the given integers.

Step 2 :

To add any two given integers use the simple logic

  • (+ve integer) + (+ve integer) = sum of +ve integers

  • (-ve integer) + (-ve integer) = sum of -ve integers

  • (-ve integer) + (+ve integer) = Either +ve or -ve integer (It is difference between negative and positive inetger. The sign depends on larger number).

Using it and substituting the values with proper signs get the answer.

  1. Add the integers -9 and -7

    Step 1 :

Given integers are -9 and -7.

    Step 2 :

    (-9) + (-7) = -9 -7 = -16

    Answer  :

    The sum -9 and -7 is -16.

  2. Add the integers - 19 and 20.

    Step 1 :

    Given integers are - 19 and 20.

    Step 2 :

    Add them to get

    (-19) + (20) = -19 + 20 = 1

    Answer  :
