Perpendicular = $\sqrt{(Hypotenuse)^{2} - (Base)^{2}}$

  1. In a right triangle, if the base is 6 cm and the perpendicular is 8 cm. Find the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle?


    Step 1 :  

    Length of the perpendicular = 6cm


    Length of the hypotenuse = ?


    Hypotenuse =$\sqrt{(Base)^{2} + (Perpendicular)^{2}}$


    So this will be =$\sqrt{((6)^{2} + (8)^2)}$= $\sqrt{36+64}$ = √(100) = 10



    Answer  :  

    Hypotenuse = 10 cm



  2. In a right triangle, if the base is 3 cm and the perpendicular is 4 cm. Find the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle?


    Step 1 :  

    We know Pythagorean theorem states that:(Hypotenuse)2 = (Base)2 + (Perpendicular)2



    Answer  :  

    Hypotenuse = 5 cm
