The relationship between amu and g/mol to convert between grams and moles by using the following equation.

    Step 2 :  

    Substitute the values in the formula

    Grams = 2.0 $\times$ 31.0


    Grams = 62gm of phoshorous



    Answer  :  

    2.0 moles of phosphorous have 62 grams of phosphorous.



  2. 10 moles of water is given. Calculate how many grams of water molecules are present?


    Step 1 :  

    Given data


    Moles of water = 10 mol


    From the periodic table the atomic weight of water is calculated as


    Atomic weight of hydrogen = 1 g/mol and oxygen = 16 g/mol


    (2(1) + 16 = 18)



    Step 2 :  

    Substitute the values in the formula.


    $Grams = Moles \times Formula\ weight$


    Grams = 10 $\times$ 18


    Grams = 180 grams



    Answer  :  

    10 moles of water molecules contain 180 grams of water molecules.
