Force :


Fx= -K(x - x0)


Spring Force Constant :


K = Fx / x - x0


Distance from equilibrium :


x = x0 - (Fx / K ).


Spring equilibrium position :


x0 = (Fx / K ) + x

    Step 1 :  

    The given:

    Spring Force Constant (K) = 500 N/m

    Distance from Equilibrium (x)= 35 m.

    Spring Equilibrium Position(x0) = 12 m

    Force(Fx) =? N.



    Step 2 :  

    Plug the value in the formula


    Force :


    Fx= -K(x - x0)


    Fx= -500(35-12).


    Fx= -500(23)



    Answer  :  

    Fx= 11,500 N



  2. Consider a spring which is stretched 8 m when a 1385 N force is applied and distance of equilibrium is 14 m. Calculate the spring force constant.?


    Step 1 :  

    The given:


    Spring Force Constant (K) = ?


    Distance from Equilibrium (x)= 14 m.


    Spring Equilibrium Position(x0) = 8 m


    Force(Fx) = 1385 N.



    Step 2 :  

    Plug the value in the formula.


    Spring Force Constant :


    K = Fx / x - x0


    K = 1385 / (14 - 8)


    K = 1385 / 6.



    Answer  :  

    K = 346.25 N/m
