    Step 1 :  

    Given that:
    Force(F) = 14N
    Area(A) = Π d2 / 4 = Π (3.6)2 / 4 = 10.179m2
    Stress(S) = ?



    Step 2 :  

    Substitue the given values in the formula:
    Stress: S = F / A
    S = 14 / 10.179
    S = 1.375 N/m2 or Pascals.



    Answer  :  

    S = 1.375 N/m2 or Pascals.



  2. If a steel bar whose diameter is 8m is stretched with a force of 16N, then calculate the stress in the steel bar?


    Step 1 :  

    Given that:
    Force(F) = 16N
    Area(A) = Π d2 / 4 = Π (8)2 / 4 = 50.265m2
    Stress(S) = ?



    Step 2 :  

    Substitue the given values in the formula:
    Stress: S = F / A
    S = 16 / 50.265
    S = 0.318 N/m2 or Pascals.



    Answer  :  

    S = 0.318 N/m2 or Pascals.
